Correct operation of generating units is the guarantee to ensure good operation of units and minimize unit damage. During the process of operating the unit, there are often some wrong operations, which lead to operation failure and even cause damage to the unit. There are several common ones as follows:
1. Start up the Cummins Generator Set When Oil is Shortage
Insufficient oil will cause insufficient oil supply on the surface of friction pairs, resulting in abnormal wear or burn. Therefore, before starting and during the operation of diesel engine, it is necessary to ensure sufficient oil to prevent cylinder pulling and bushing failure due to oil shortage.
2. Stop the unit immediately after emergency shutdown with load or sudden unloading
After quenching, the circulation of cooling water stops, the heat dissipation capacity decreases sharply, and the heated parts lose cooling. It is easy to cause the overheating of cylinder head, cylinder liner, cylinder block and other parts, resulting in cracks, or the excessive expansion of piston stuck in the cylinder liner. It will also occur that when the diesel generator unit shuts down without idling cooling, the friction surface will be insufficient oil, and when the diesel engine is restarted, the wear will be aggravated due to poor lubrication. Therefore, the diesel generator set should be unloaded before quenching, and gradually reduce the speed, no-load operation for a few minutes.
3. Running under load without warming up after cold start
When starting the refrigeratory of diesel generator set, the oil viscosity and fluidity are high, which results in insufficient oil supply for the oil pump, and the friction surface of the machine is badly lubricated due to lack of oil, resulting in sharp wear and tear, and even the failure of cylinder pulling and tile burning. Therefore, the diesel engine should idle and heat up after cooling start, and wait for the oil temperature to reach 40 C before running with load; the machine should start with a low speed gear, and run a mileage in sequence in each gear, until the oil temperature is normal and the fuel supply is sufficient, it can be turned into normal driving. Misoperation of diesel generator 4: If the diesel engine hits the throttle sharply after cold start, the rotational speed of the diesel generator set will rise sharply, which will cause some friction surfaces on the engine to wear severely due to dry friction. In addition, the acceptance force of piston, connecting rod and crankshaft changes greatly when the accelerator is bombarded, which causes severe impact and easily damages the parts.
